12V 15A Battery Desulfation Charger — Regenerator for Sulphated Batteries
Two modes. One toggle. Regeneration fires controlled desulfation pulses into sulphated plates; Maintenance floats a healthy battery so it never slides back. Set 0–15A on the knob, watch the live digital ammeter, and work every 12V lead-acid battery from 7Ah to 200Ah — inverter tubulars, car and tractor batteries, solar banks and e-rickshaw units.
Battery shops know it as a desulfator, a regenerator, a battery reviver — even the “battery repair wala charger.” Same machine.

Honest policy: recovery is an attempt, not a guarantee — a battery with an internal short, broken plates or dried electrolyte cannot be recovered by any charger.
Quick answer: what does a desulfation charger do?
A desulfation charger — also sold as a battery desulfator, battery regenerator or battery reviver — sends controlled pulses through a 12V lead-acid battery to break down hardened lead-sulphate crystals on its plates: the buildup that silently kills backup time in inverters, cars, tractors, solar banks and e-rickshaws. This Samco 12V 15A unit pairs that Regeneration mode with a Maintenance (float) mode, a variable 0–15A knob, a live digital ammeter, and overload, short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection.

02 · The two modes
What each mode on the desulfation charger does
Controlled desulfation pulses
Intended to break down the hardened lead sulphate that builds up on plates after deep discharge or long idle periods. It may restore usable capacity where the plates are still sound — the difference between reviving a battery and scrapping it.
Float for a healthy battery
Supplies a small controlled current to hold a charged battery in peak condition — for seasonal vehicles, DG-set starters and inverter banks between power cuts. Recovered batteries stay recovered.
Set the current, watch the meter
The knob covers 0 to 15A and the digital ammeter shows the live draw, so a small standby battery and a 180Ah tubular bank can each get the current their maker specifies — not one fixed rate. Check that figure before connecting anything at the low end of the range.
03 · Diagnosis
Signs a battery may be sulphated
| Symptom | What it usually indicates |
|---|---|
| Charges "full", then drains within hours | Lost capacity — the classic early sign of sulphation |
| Takes far longer to charge than it used to | Sulphated plates resist accepting current |
| Reads charged but won't crank or start | Plates can't deliver the cranking current |
| Runs noticeably hot while charging | Energy wasted as heat instead of being stored |
| Rests below 12.4V after a full charge | Healthy 12V batteries rest at 12.6–12.8V |
| Two to three years old, never maintained | Sulphation accumulates quietly in normal service |
These symptoms point to sulphation but don't confirm it — a failing cell can look identical from outside. Test the battery first, and treat regeneration as worth trying rather than certain to work.
What this desulfation charger works on
- 12V lead-acid — tubular, flat plate, SMF, VRLA and wet cell
- 7Ah – 200Ah, at the current the battery maker specifies
- Sulphated batteries whose plates are still intact
- Healthy batteries needing float maintenance

How to run a regeneration cycle
Connect & set the current
Red clamp to positive (+), black to negative (–). Set the knob to the charging current the battery manufacturer specifies — a low setting for a small battery, and never the knob's top end by default.
Select Regeneration
Move the front-panel toggle to Regeneration. The charger begins applying controlled desulfation pulses to break down lead-sulphate buildup on the plates.
Monitor the meter, not the clock
Watch the digital ammeter and battery voltage through the cycle. Mild sulphation may take 4–12 hours, heavy sulphation 24–48 hours; some batteries need several cycles.
Finish on Maintenance
Once the battery is back up, switch to Maintenance to float-hold the recovered charge. If several cycles bring no change, the battery has a fault regeneration cannot address.
05 · Applications
Who uses a regeneration desulfation charger in India
Battery shops & reconditioning
The core job. Stock that won't hold charge, assessed and put through a regeneration cycle before it's written off or returned to sale — across Gokhale Market and beyond.
Home inverter backup dropping
Tubular 150–200Ah banks whose backup time has shrunk over a few seasons. Routine charging is a different job — see the 12V 15A SMPS charger or the 12V 20A FCBC.
Solar banks left partly discharged
Off-grid banks that sat below full charge through a weak monsoon or low-generation spell — exactly the condition sulphation follows.
Trucks, tractors & standby
Vehicles off the road for months: truck, tractor and DG batteries that went flat in storage and now crank slowly or not at all.
E-rickshaw 12V units
Individual 12V batteries pulled from e-rickshaw strings, tested and revived one at a time. Never connect across a full 48V or 60V series string.
Healthy batteries that are simply discharged
A sound battery doesn't need regeneration. For everyday charging, use the 12V 6A car charger, the 12V 10A automatic charger or any model in the 12 volt range.

Desulfation charger FAQs
Can it recover a deeply discharged or heavily sulphated battery?
Sometimes — and any seller who promises otherwise isn't being straight with you. Regeneration mode applies controlled desulfation pulses intended to reduce lead-sulphate buildup on plates that are still intact. Where sulphation is the only fault, it may recover usable capacity. It cannot fix an internal short, broken plates, physical damage or dried-out electrolyte. Treat every recovery as an attempt, not a guarantee.
How long does a desulfation cycle take?
It depends on how far sulphation has progressed. As a rough guide only, mild sulphation may need 4–12 hours and heavy sulphation 24–48 hours; some batteries need two or three cycles and some never respond. Watch the digital ammeter and battery voltage rather than charging to the clock — recovering current acceptance is the sign a cycle is working.
When do I use Regeneration mode and when Maintenance mode?
Regeneration mode is for batteries showing sulphation symptoms — short backup, slow charging, resting below 12.4V. Maintenance mode is a float charge for healthy batteries you want to keep ready: seasonal vehicles, DG-set starters and inverter banks between power cuts. A typical routine is one regeneration cycle first, then Maintenance to hold the recovered charge.
Which batteries are compatible?
Any 12V lead-acid battery between roughly 7Ah and 200Ah — tubular, flat plate, SMF, VRLA, wet cell and AGM — provided you set the current to the figure the battery manufacturer specifies. It is a 12V charger only: not for 24V, 36V or 48V strings, and not for lithium-ion or LiFePO₄. GEL batteries need both mode voltages confirmed with Samco before you connect one.
What exactly is sulphation?
Sulphation is the hardening of lead-sulphate crystals on a battery's plates. It happens after every discharge, but crystals left too long — by deep discharge, long storage or chronic undercharging — stop dissolving on recharge. They block plate area, cut capacity, and are the most common reason an inverter battery's backup time collapses. A desulfation charger exists specifically to attack this buildup.
Does battery desulfation actually work?
On the right battery, yes; on the wrong battery, no. Results are best on batteries whose plates are mechanically sound and whose only fault is sulphate buildup — typically one to five years old, slowly having lost capacity. It does nothing for shorted cells, shed plates or dry batteries, and some sulphated batteries simply never respond. That's why we say: try it, measure the result, keep expectations honest.
Is it cheaper than replacing the battery?
For a dealer or anyone with several batteries, usually yes. A failed 150–200Ah tubular battery can cost well over ten thousand rupees to replace, while this charger is a one-time Rs 10,500 plus GST that can attempt recoveries across your whole stock or household for years. For one small car battery near end of life, replacement is often the sensible call.
Can I use it on inverter, solar and e-rickshaw batteries?
Yes — those are the classic use cases. 100–200Ah tubular inverter batteries that have lost backup time, solar banks that sat partly discharged through a weak monsoon, and individual 12V units pulled from e-rickshaw strings all fall inside the 7–200Ah range. Never connect it across a full 48V or 60V e-rickshaw string — charge one 12V battery at a time.
What is the price, and where does Samco ship?
Rs 10,500 plus GST, with free shipping to 19,000+ pincodes across India in 3–7 working days. Order on WhatsApp or call 99539 35912; COD and UPI are accepted and a GST invoice is provided. Local buyers can pick up from 21 Gokhale Market, near Kashmere Gate Metro Station, Delhi 110054.
Is GST included in the price, and is dealer pricing available?
No to both — this model is the exception in the Samco range. Rs 10,500 is quoted plus GST, added at invoice, and no dealer or wholesale discount applies on this model. Every other Samco charger is priced with GST included.
Does it work with GEL, AGM and sealed batteries?
AGM, SMF, VRLA, wet cell, tubular and flat plate types are all supported. GEL batteries specify lower charging voltages than flooded cells, so confirm both the Regeneration and Maintenance mode voltages with Samco before connecting a GEL battery. Lithium-ion and LiFePO₄ packs are not supported at all.
What warranty and returns apply?
Six months against manufacturing defects. Unopened units in original packaging can be returned within 3 days, with return shipping paid by the customer. Full terms are on the warranty and returns page.
